Volunteer with GoFar

Do you like to drive?  Have you got some spare time?  Would you like to help your community?

Why not become a volunteer driver with us and join a small but perfectly formed team offering transport services to our local community. There's no "fixed hours"...Whatever you can offer would be a great help to us whether it be an afternoon...a day....or five days, it would all be very much appreciated

Our vehicles come with all the "mod cons"....tyres....seats....a steering wheel.... and an engine. (Please Note...The helicopter in the photos above is not a GoFar vehicle)   We offer free MiDAS (Minibus Driver Awareness Scheme) training with our in house trainer, GoFar uniform and an abundant supply of tea, coffee and biscuits.  More importantly, you will be helping people from your community to stay independent, get to hospital and doctors appointments or just have a day out and not be isolated.  Our group work takes us all over Yorkshire.... and we offer day trips to our members going to the coast, garden centres, visitor attractions and shopping.  Our Medibus services take people to hospital appointments in Goole, Scunthorpe and Hull along with transport to the doctors, opticians, dentists and chiropody.

Why volunteer?  Well here's what some of our volunteers have told us....

" I am retired and my interests do not include gardening, fishing or golf, but I really enjoy driving. I find that I can enjoy my passion and also give something back to the community. I have been with GoFar for just over three years now and I really enjoy the interaction with the passengers on the shoppers and days out and also the people on the Medibus services. I also relish the workplace camaraderie with Andy, Christine and the drivers. I get satisfaction and fulfilment from helping others and knowing my time and services are appreciated."

"After a day driving for Gofar I can reflect on my day and feel fulfilled as today I helped someone just that little bit and I can look forward to doing it again another day."

"Am I glad I started volunteering? You bet! It really is good fun and a treat to meet lots of people who, if it was not for Goole GoFar would quite likely be stuck at home on their own."

"I absolutely love doing this job! I get to meet lots of “new friends” and most of them like to have a natter…just like me! I take them to the hospital, doctors, dentists and all the various clinics. The passengers I carry make my day as much as I make theirs. My only regret about volunteering with GoFar is….I wish I had started a lot sooner!"

Want to volunteer?  Give us a ring and speak to Andy in the office, he'll sort out a time for you to come in and have a chat.....As a great man once said..."Go on Rodders give it a go....You know it makes sense!"
